Hemp on The Coop Network: The Sustainable Material of the Future

February 3, 2022

Hemp has been used for centuries and there is no doubt that it will play a major role in the future of sustainable materials. In this blog post, we will explore some of the ways in which hemp can be used to create eco-friendly products. We will also discuss the potential for growth in the hemp industry and how it can benefit communities around the world.

Firstly, let’s look into the hemp plant. Hemp is a member of the cannabis family, but it does not contain THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which means that you cannot get the so-called ‘high’ effect from smoking or ingesting any part of the plant. It is often used to make clothes and other fabrics, since it is very durable and does not require pesticides or herbicides to grow well. Hemp production is legal in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and many European countries.

The hemp plant has a very long history of use for hemp fiber production in the textile industry. It was used to make ropes and sails on ships during World War II since it’s so strong and durable. Hemp fiber is one of the strongest natural fibers and can be used to make a variety of products, including clothing, hemp-based foods, supplements, body care products, construction materials, car parts and more.

There has been a recent resurgence in hemp production due to the increasing demand for sustainable materials. Hemp is a very versatile material, and there are many innovative ways that it can be used. For example, hemp fiber can be mixed with other fibers to create a stronger product, or it can even be used as an additive in concrete to make it more durable. If you haven’t yet heard of “hempcrete”, know that it is a mixture of hemp fiber, lime and water that can be used to create walls, floors and roofs. It is very lightweight, yet strong and durable. The hemp plant also absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, so using hempcrete helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. That’s what we’d call a win-win.

This incredible capacity for carbon dioxide absorption makes hemp crops an environmentally-friendly choice for community development projects. Hemp can be used to create sustainable materials that improve the quality of life for people in developing countries. There are many potential applications for hemp in these areas, including building homes, creating renewable energy sources and growing food.

In addition to its environmental benefits, hemp also has social and economic benefits, providing jobs for people in all areas of production, from planting and harvesting to processing and manufacturing. It can be grown in many different climates and conditions, so it is a great option for small farmers around the world. Hemp production does not require large amounts of water or land like other crops do, which makes it an excellent choice for areas where water is scarce or land is limited.

The potential for growth in hemp production is enormous. The hemp industry has already grown by 20% in less than five years, and it will continue to grow at that rate for the foreseeable future. The global market size will reach $26 billion by 2025 with a CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of 22.0%.

All of these reasons are part of why hemp is one of the main focuses in Geoma DAO Coop, where Blockchain Technology meets the real world. We’re working hard in building a sustainable future and looking forward to welcoming new members willing to make a difference in the community.
